Pick the right type for your setup
The type of shower that’s right for you depends on your hot-water system, your mains pressure and what you want from the experience. We talk through the four common options at survey: electric (heats cold mains on demand, the simplest swap), mixer (uses your existing hot and cold), thermostatic mixer (the same with a locked safe temperature), and digital (precise temperature, often with remote pump options). We’ll tell you which suits your house, not which one has the highest markup.
Repair before replace
A shower that’s gone funny on temperature is almost always a cartridge or thermostatic element that can be replaced for around £80 to £150 fitted. We’ll diagnose at the £80 first-hour rate before we recommend a new unit, and we’ll only suggest replacement if the parts cost is genuinely close to the price of a new shower. No upsell, no “you need a whole new bathroom for this”.

I wanted to leave a massive thank you to Jaspal and Kultar for their incredible help recently. Got in contact with basi heating. As my old boiler wasn't safe to use. Within 5 working days they booked me in for a new boiler to be installed. The engineers arrived within the time frame given. Very professional and the installation of the new boiler is excellent. Fantastic customer service all round. Highly recommend. And will be using basi heating for the servicing of the boiler. The questions we get asked most.
What types of shower do you install?
All of them: electric (instant heat from cold mains), mixer (works off existing hot and cold supply), thermostatic mixer (temperature locked, scald-proof), and digital. We'll talk you through which suits your water pressure and hot-water setup at survey.
Will an electric shower run on my mains?
Most UK mains supplies will run an electric shower up to about 10.5 kW. Higher-power models (10.8 to 11.5 kW) need a check on the incoming cable size and the consumer unit. We do that check at survey and tell you straight if an upgrade is needed.
My shower runs cold or hot for no reason, what's wrong?
On a mixer shower, fluctuating temperature usually means the cartridge has failed. On a thermostatic shower, the thermostatic element has scaled up or the inlet filters are blocked. Both are repairable, often inside the first hour. £80 first hour, parts at trade price.
Can you tile around a new shower?
Yes. Our team includes tilers as employed BASI staff, not sub-contractors, so a new shower with full splash-wall tiling is one team, one fixed price, one warranty. If you want a full bathroom refit too, see our bathroom fitting service for the same team and standards.
Do you install walk-in or wet-room showers?
Yes, including the formed shower tray or full wet-room tanking, the screen, the tiling, and the waste falls. Wet rooms need careful waterproofing and falls to the drain, which is why having a multi-skilled team on the job matters. We typically run wet-room jobs alongside a full bathroom design.
